"You two are always so open when you are together and yet you don't share a word when you break up? And, as for the apology, you won't get one. I was a detective and what I see is what I use to assume what is going on. So, if you don't want people assuming improperly, perhaps you should make it clear what your intentions are rather than jumping back and forth over a line,"
Open? Him and Jean? Scott's expression was one of disbelief, wondering where Maya had gotten that impression. Her comments about him "jumping back and forth" were pure fiction, considering she'd just walked in on the tail end of a conversation, powers or no powers. He wondered why she thought what she did, but the way she was coming at it just seemed so... Skewed. Her assumptions were way off, but he knew she wouldn't admit that either.
He was honestly at a loss to understand where the hostility was coming from. Some misinformation and bad assumptions made her think she could talk to him like that? He was still the Professor's second in command, and if she wasn't going to show him the respect he was due, that he deserved, then he was going to have to figure out some other way of dealing with her.
"Has Scott given you the grand tour yet or has he been beating around that bush too?"
Good god, could she BE any more clueless? He would have face-palmed, if not for the fact that he was wearing shades, and that was kind of awkward to do. He knew that the Professor wanted to help people like her, but he would have thought he'd have been briefed on her bad attitude. Although she wasn't the first; Scott had dealt with plenty of bad apples in his day.
"As far as the tour, we haven't gotten around to that yet. I'm guessing he was planning on it after we finished with our playful flirting. Either that or I'd be getting to have the fun of exploration while carrying around a ball of yarn."
Scott shook his head.
"Yes, I was. I still am." Scott said.
"That is, if you still want to." He said, being polite, making sure not to ASSUME anything.
