One week. That had been how long she had been able to keep herself out of trouble. Hey, that was pretty good for her if she said so herself. But, Tabitha realized how boring that could be too. And expensive, yeesh. She needed a job. But, that would mean leaving New York as those maniacs that called themselves the Friends of Humanity knew she was a mutant and knew she didn't get herself one of those stupid ID cards.
Thanks for the offer but she had to pass. Those ID cards seemed more than a little intrusive. And, it was like painting "Hi I'm a MUTANT" on someone's forehead in big bold red day glow letters. They had been talking on the news about how they were going to be taking further measures to protect people from uncarded unexamined mutants. Tabby didn't know what those "further measures" might have been but it gave her a bad feeling. Like she'd swallowed a bunch of ice or something.
Shaking her head, she got rid of those thoughts for the time being and backtracked to her earlier ones. Well, she wouldn't be getting a job, so a girl had to make do with what she had right? A grin playfully curled on the corners of her lips and she moved to the vending machine she had been eying for the last few minutes. Walking up to it, she made a motion like she was slipping in a couple of coins and pressed her forehead against the glass as she eyes the treats that were imprisoned inside the machine.
"Four.... three..... two... one...."
A sound almost like firecrackers went off and a decent amount of the snacks and sealed burgers dropped down into the retrieval bin. Tabby have an almost squeal of delight before she went to raiding said bin.

Another week, another new stash of comic books came into the hands of Gregory. He left the comic book store with a plastic bag that contained 4-5 new issues and the grin was apparent. This week's stash seemed to be the 'mother load' for Gregory. He was about to cross the street but he can't help but notice a familiar.
Just a few buildings to his right, he saw someone at the vending machine. There was something familiar for Greogry so much that he slowly made his way towards the said person. A few steps later, it hit him, it was that blonde he met a few days ago. He was silent while she continued to raid the bin and just shook his head.
"So...", he said dryly, "This won't lead you to being chased by cops now, right?"

"So... This won't lead you to being chased by cops now, right?"
"Do you hafta sound so boyscout when you say that, Greggy?" She asked even as she fished the last of the dropped treats and meals out of the bottom of the retrieval bin of the vending machine.
"I've lost enough change in this thing to fund a month of their salaries and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Anyways, broke mutant an' homeless doesn't exactly get ya jobs." She added with a laugh.
Wait, did she just say that? Why did she just say that? Since when did she start advertising the homeless part?
"They weren't chasing me last time because of something like this anyways. It's more from that Humanity Friends, or whatever they are." Tabitha commented with a roll of her eyes as she stood up with her armload of food.
If it hadn't been for the reflective surface of the display glass, she might have jumped out of her skin earlier.

Greg let out a playful grin when she said something about him being so 'boyscout' about things. He still observed her gather the treats she just obtained from the vending machine. A part of him was telling himself to just tell her it was wrong, but maybe she knew that. Another part of him would let her be, the latter won. Besides, once she explained she was indeed broke and jobless, it all made sense.
"Oh..I...", Greg tried to reply, but he found it way too difficult to do so. But she cut him off, saying something about the anti-mutant group this time. He shrugged and told her blankly, "Now why didn't you say so?" To him it about as made sense as anything would right now. Those FOH people do have a pull on the outside, and she seemed the type to be out on the streets alot, under their crosshairs.
It took him a few seconds before he did a switch on his back pack and plastic bag. He put on the comics into his backpack, leaving the plastic bag empty. Gregory handed the bag to Tabitha and said, "Here. You'll have an easier time carrying your stash" Greg looked at the street right across where they are to see the burger king sign.
He could still remember the events of their last meeting. It somewhat ended with a 'bang', hence, explaining why she dubbed herself 'boomer' or 'fire cracker'. Greg slowly darted his eyes back to Tabitha and asked, "So...doesn't bother you that I haven't freaked out yet when you told me you're a broke...MUTANT?" He wouldn't tell her yet that he was one himself, but he would like to make it known to her that maybe she just said way too much information.

She really didn't know what to think of him. As he shuffled his things around to have the plastic bag empty then hand it out for her, she felt her brow raise big time, it almost meeting her hair-line. He seriously was going to help her? Not strings, no catches? Yeah, she had someone else help her while she'd been in this city but he was her teacher or whatever. One that she hadn't seen in a while too.
"Uh.... thanks." She said as she accepted the bag, her brow still pretty high up there.
She watched him with curiosity and uncertainty as she dropped the food into the plastic bag then moved the bag so she had it hanging over the back of her shoulder with two fingers keeping it from falling.
A laugh came in reply to his question and she looked at him, her eyes glinting with amusement.
"Hey, if it wasn't obvious last time that I'm one with those cops yelling slurs after me while I ran my little ass of, then I'd be surprised. So, I'm guessin' that you already had the time to go through the phases." Tabby stated with a grin.
"Yeah, I know there's a chance that this all could be a set up, but even if it is, I'm a big girl and you're juuust cute enough to get away with the innocent act.... so if it really is a trap, kudos on you." She told him, her grin becoming bigger.

"Sadly I don't think I did go through with the 'phases' you're talking about." Greg said dryly at Tabitha. While his facial expression was blank, he was trying hard not to blush. She just said the keyword to him and she didn't noticed. But about the remarks of the cops, he swore he couldn't remember them. Sure he saw her powers in display but after it all went 'boom', he was just in shock of what occured to him.
"A set up? Me? Ok you're just being way too paranoid...", Greg explained to her. Slowly he added, "Butt seriously..". Greg paused. He mentally betrayed himself on that one. Again he mustered up his mental facilities to say, "But seriously now, this isn't a set up or anything done by the cops or the Friends of Humanity. I was just going to tell you that if you're interested, I know a place where you won't be hassled that much by the cops."
A small smile crept on his face as he continued, "I know this place where mutants can have a safe haven. Where they can develop their powers. Where...." Greg paused and looked at her with amusement. Soon, he added, "Where there's a big fridge where you can eat anything you want. Well..almost anything." Surely, if the first two things wouldn't convince her, the fridge would.

When he told her he didn't go through the phases, her brow shot up and she almost tilted her head to the side some. Almost. No phases? Really? SO not only was he gullible as all hell, not only did he seem to try to do the gentleman thing, but he was also uber-tolerant of the mutified awesome power slinger types? Well, there was no cure for awesome even if the FOH were trying for one if the rumors were right... So maybe, maaaaybe, there was a chance he was one of those people who figure why fix something that ain't broken..?
"No phases? What next, the "some of my best friends are mutants" line?" She teased with a snerk and a small shifting of her hips from side to side as she said that quote.
As he went to telling her she was too paranoid with the set up thing, she just gave him a cheeky look that also passed the message of her having good reason to be. Which she did. With a life like hers, she couldn't really trust anyone. Even that teacher buddy of hers was a suspect in her mind. It got her by.
Greggy-boy went to talking about how he was about to tell her about this place she wouldn't be hassled and her smirk turned a little crooked. Curiosity and uncertainty making a lovechild inside of her head that gave her mixed messages on what to think. He got to the part of a sanctuary for mutants for power developing with a fridge of goodies in as a possible deal maker, the words "too good to be true" rang clear in her head and those mixed feelings sparked something in her for a second. For a second, she actually felt a little mad.
"Oh like I'm really gonna fall for that one. Look, I might not look like I got much inthe smarts department but I've been out an' around enough to know better than to fall for somethin' like that. You wanna say you din't go through no phases, sure, fine I'll think about belivin' that seein' how there's a chance of that. BUt tell me a load like the one you just told me an' expect me to swallow it down no problem? I don't think so. Gullible IS in the dictionary an' my face AIN'T next to it." She snapped before turning and beginning to storm off.

"Ok...so maybe I should have just stuck with the fridge rather than the mutant sanctuary part, huh? Yeah, that'll work better. Damn it Greg!"
He really felt awkward when she gave him the verbal barrage of his lifetime. Then again, he should have expected that she was no idiot who'd fall for either the fridge or the sanctuary part. All he wanted to say was he can show her to the Xavier institute and have her a safer place to stay.
"Look, I wasn't expecting you to take it all in and believe me." Greg said as he followed her. He tried to stop her from bolting away while he added, "I'm just saying I know this place for mutants. Hell if you're ok with it, I can take you there. Trust me. Right now I know you're not buying this, but just hold your horses." Greg sighed and tried to figure out what to say to make her believe him. Suddenly, he realized one omission, and his eyes widened.
"Idiot! I knew I forgot to say something."
"You know one reason why I know of a place? I'm a mutant myself." Greg said to her softly, hoping the others won't hear him say that. Thankfully there were not much people in the area while he tried to catch up to her. Greg looked at her and added, "If you want...we can even fly to that area, quite literally. Well, unless you get airsick or something like that."

She had started storming off but he was soon following her, even catching up to her before he tried to tell her that he didn't expect her to believe him. Of course she didn't believe him. But he kept on talking, going on about how he knew a place for mutants and how he'd take her there... bla bla trust... bla bla knew she wasn't buying this. Tabby, as cute as Greg was, was seconds away from whirling around and popping him one. Her fingers had curled to form fists out of her hands and everything.
Then, he told her that he was a mutant. This earned him a pissed off glare from the hotheaded blond bombshell and she finally did stop. She whirled around to face him and he could probably tell that she was getting ready to fight him over his teasing and lying. Oh he was gonna get it alright!
"You're a mutant huh? You can fly, huh? Well prove it. C'mon! Show me what you're made outta. Y'got like five seconds." She said, obviously not finding this funny.

Five seconds? Greg's eyes opened up with such a demand. He can do it fast but the question was where can he display his power? He looked beside them and found a nearby alleyway. Greg had a grin on his face as he faced the alleyway and thought of it as a perfect spot. Quickly, he grabbed Tabitha by the wrist before he said, "Not a problem.." With that said, he dashed towards the alleyway with Tabitha not so far behind.
Once Greg made it inside the gaps of two tall buildings, he looked back at Tabitha. Greg tried to figure out if his wind power can lift both of them. He shook his head and told her, "Here goes, now I'm telling you to hold on tight, RIGHT NOW." Upon his last two words, the wind around them started to pick up and caused some items to swirl around like it was a tornado. Both of them were caught between this mini-tornado before Greg hooked one of his arm around Boom Boom's hip.
Greg's head tilted up to the skies, and with all his concentration, he shot up with Tabitha from the ground. Hurricane's speed to head up went from 0 to 20 mph before he and Tabitha landed on the rooftop of a building that was beside them. Slowly both of them landed on the rooftop floor and Greg had a satisfied grin. He did it. Greg himself was amazed by the feats of his mutant ability.
"Ok...So that was more than five seconds. My bad." Greg quipped to Tabitha with a playful grin after he did his powers. With his display of power, hopefully she'll finally see he was serious about that place for mutants.

Not a problem? Really? Or was he messing with her? Tabby didn't like being so paranoid but with people like the FOH around, she didn't really have much of a choice, did she. That, and he hadn't exactly been up front with her. I fhe was a mutant, he should have been out the gate about it. He should have told her sooner than this, seeing how he knew she was one since the last time they met. It wasn't like she was going to go all "oh shit mutant, call the FOH!" on him.
As he ran towards an alley, all of Tabitha's paranoid instincts screamed it was a trap. But what did she do? She followed anyways. It was half out of hope of him tellin gthe truth and half out of the danger element. The same danger element that had her playing chase with the piggies after pissing thier dogs off. Hey, she didn't claim that she did smart things all the time. That was pretty stupid. But it did make for one hell of a game!
When they arrived to the alley, there was no blanket-party. But, she didn't see any flying going on either. She gave him a look as if telling him she was waiting on this power of his. Alright, so she was a little impatient. But she was still kind of pissed off.
When he told her to hold on tight, she didn't just yet. Why? Because she wanted to see what happened. But, as the wind suddenly picked up she ended up moving closer to him and holding on even as his arm went around her hip to keep her from getting thrown away into a wall or something. Or end up crashing into a dumpster which would have been comical but painful.
He was doing it.... He was actually doing it. All she could do for a minute was just stare at him when they landed on the rooftop. When he made the comment about it being more than five seconds, she smirked at him, snapping out of the somewhat daze the shock had given her.
"Still, I guess I'll believe you... On the you bein' a mutant thing. You coulda told me sooner, y'know." She stated in a teasing way, not giving him the full win on the situation just yet.

"What?" Greg said with a grin before he continued, "And miss out on your surprised look? C'mon, that's no fun." Greg chuckled while the two of them were still on the rooftop of the building. His head tilted to his left to check out the view of the city. It was nearing night time so the sun was about to set.
"Hmmm...will you look at that." Greg said under his breath as he gazed into the sky. The sun was slowly setting and the building gave them a pretty nice view. What Greg failed to realize, however, was his arm was still around Tabitha's waist area. Once he realized such, he looked back at Tabitha in a rather embarassed manner.
"Oh...I'm...sorry," Greg said as he slowly pulled his arm away and took a step back from her. He took his attention back to the view and asked her, "So how'd you like the sun set's view from here?" He has seen the sun set, mostly on the roofdeck of the institute. However, the city's buildings also provided another angle or view for Gregory. He wasn't too picky where he saw it, since to him, it was still a view that he enjoyed seeing.

A figure dressed in a long brown trenchcoat emerged from a building and brandished his prize, a whopper. The cajun longed for a New Orleans style cooked meal, but he was feeling lazy to cook today. That, plus the burger would make due. He looked at the street across him and with such luck, he found a familiar face. There she was trying to use her powers on that poor vending machine. A smirk emerged from him as he took a bite off his late lunch.
His smirk, however, disappeared at a sight of an x-men. What's more, this X-Men approached Boom Boom. He knew of this man thanks to the files that either Magneto or Havok brought along hte Brotherhood Lair. So for the cajun, it wasn't that hard to find the current team that he had to face. Unless of course, Xavier had someone in hiding or was a double agent and was in the brotherhood itself. So far so good, nothing of that sort was noticable.
It was an amusing sight to see, this blonde guy trying to be all of a gentlemen by providing Boom Boom a plastic bag for her 'prizes'. He slowly shook his head while he leaned on the wall beside the burger king he just left. After he finished his burger, he saw the two having some sort of a quarrell. "Hmm..probably de lady had another hormone eruption o'some sort?", Gambit mused as he watched Boom Boom trying to storm off.
The cajun pretty much was entertained by the things he saw on the other side of the road. There he saw the blonde trying to catch up to the girl and convince her to stay. To his amazement, Boom Boom did, but she seemed visibly irritated. Once he noticed him grab her by the wrist, the cajun raised a brow. He was not sure where they were going so he quickly made a cross on the road to figure out. They went into the alley and he made a little dash there. He leaned onto the wall before he peered over.
"Just what is dis kid gon' do now?" he asked himself while he observed the two inside the alley. Soon, his eyes widened as he saw Greg and Tabitha fly off into the roof. He whistled and had a grin. So the Xavier boy does display his power. Quickly, he made it into the building just adjacent to where they were and got to the elevator. It wasn't a quick way to go up to the rooftop of that place but it was good enough.
Slowly, he made his way into the rooftop and leaned over the wall. It was the one blocking the view from where the other two were. He peered over to see the two, most noticably Greg looking onto the sunset. He had a smirk on his face while he continued to watch the entire thing unfold. He won't make his presence known, but he'll be asking a fair amount of questions to his 'student' soon.

The guy seemed to be way to happy about knocking her off balance a little. Yeah, a little as that was the only amount she was willing to admit to. Not that he pushed too hard, actually moving away a little when he realized what he'd done. So much for that. A somewhat teasing, "aww, why" expression made itself obvious, and she looked him in the eye as he stammered out his apology. It was kind of cute. She wasn't used to people like him. The whole shy bit was still a little hard to believe though. Well, he had been genuine so far, but anything more than that was still up in the air.
At least she was feeling a little less paranoid than before. A little. Juuuuust a little
"View's fine, but I'm sure you mean the sunset, right?" She continued, teasing him in that way she had become accustomed to.
It was a nice sunset. She couldn't deny that. She hadn't expected him to be a mutant, and she hadn't expected him to have the kind of power he'd had. It was a day full of surprises, even if she didn't know whether these surprises were going to end up having been good or bad ones. Still, for the time being she could enjoy the view.

"Oh hehehe..yeah I knew that," Greg said while she corrected him with what he just said. He felt a bit embarassed by her, getting 'schooled' like that. However, that feeling was temporary as he continued to watch the view from the rooftop. For the life of him, however, he felt like he was being watched. He didn't bother following through on that feeling though as he did realize he was still with Tabitha, admiring the wonderful view.
"So...where would you go from here?" His question was filled with curiousity. For one thing, he was sure to be heading home a few more minutes. For her, where would she be heading off to? Greg was sure she'd go somewhere and find a place to sleep. But at the back of his mind he felt a bit bad for her. He had everything in order for him back at the mansion. He can't imagine how hard it might be for her to get a good night's rest with the constant running away from the cops.
