Jakob Eisenhardt (father, deceased), Edie Eisenhardt (mother, deceased), Pietro Maximoff (son), Wanda Maximoff (daughter), Magda (wife, deceased), Lorna Dane (daughter)General Appearance:
Magneto is somewhat older than Professor Xavier, but due to various events over the years, he appears a little younger than he actually is. He is also in better shape physically than one would imagine, able to still lead an active life. He has grey hair, and his face is somewhat wrinkled due to the passage of time. He has a tattoo on his wrist, his number (24005, which was one incorrectly believed to be 214782) from when he was in the Nazi concentration camps. He wears a somewhat neat, smart uniform that is navy in colour. He wears black, leather gloves. He also wears a cloak that is a very deep, dark red on one side, and navy on the other. Last but not least, Magneto wears a maroon helmet that protects him from telepathic signals.Personality:
Due to spending a substantial amount of time in Nazi concentration camps as a child, Magneto has little faith in humanity. He believes that mutants are genetically, intellectually, morally, and pretty much every other way superior to humans. He is capable of great kindness, compassion, and even love for his fellow mutants, but it is with equal measure that he hates humans. He thinks nothing of killing a human, and would gladly kill a thousand humans to save one mutant.Abilities:
He is the polar opposite to Charles Xavier when it comes to ideas about how humans and mutants might live together, that is, he believes mutants should rightfully rule humans in every way conceivable, and does not believe in peaceful coexistence.
Magneto is one of the most powerful mutants on Earth. He has, in the simplest terms possible, the ability to control magnetic fields.History:
This "magnetism" ability allows him to create electromagnetic pulses, redirect rivers, and cause earthquakes.
The most common applications of his powers are:
Force shields that can protect him from most attacks,
Magnetic "force bolts" that resemble energy blasts,
The ability to levitate or fly,
To "see" the world as electromagnetic energy,
The ability to manipulate trace metals (ie, kill someone by manipulating the iron in their blood almost instantly),
A link to the Earth's electromagnetic field that strengthens his body, and accounts for how fit and youthful looking/feeling he is for someone his age,
The ability to lift and move incredibly large objects at will,
The ability to increase his strength, reflexes, vitality, durability and perceptions with his magnetic abilities,
He has some level of telepathic resistance, though it becomes an immunity when his helmet is worn.
If Magneto has one weakness, it's that his powers are dependant on his physical condition. If he is tired, sick, or otherwise compromised, he will not be able to use his powers as effectively as he might usually.
Magneto was born Max Eisenhardt in Germany in 1933. When he was a child, and the Nazis took over Germany, Max (like most jews) was rounded up and brought to a concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland, though not before he saw his family brutally murdered at the hands of the German soldiers.Other:
While there, he witnessed atrocities that would forever shape his view of humanity, things that he would never forgive.
One positive, though, was that while in the camp Max fell in love with a young gypsy girl named Magda. After saving her from the gas chambers (that Max had been forced to operate at times), the pair escaped, hiding out in the Carpathian Mountains. Their love soon bore a child, Anya, and after acquiring a new identity (becoming Erik Lehnsherr), they relocated to a town in the Soviet Union.
Unlike most mutants, Magneto's powers did not erupt at puberty, but instead came much later, on the very first day they had arrived in the aforementioned Soviet town (Vinnitsa). Unfortunately, it was this eruption that eventually proved to be his undoing, as those that had seen him use his abilities sought to punish him, and called the KGB.
When Erik returned to the inn that night, he found it on fire, with his daughter trapped on the top floor. He tried to use his new-found abilities to save his daughter, only for the KGB to show up and hold him down while he watched his own daughter burn to death.
The rage and grief within him swelled, empowering him, and Magneto tore apart the men attacking him, the crowd that had been watching, and even a large part of the town he had been staying in. His wife became fearful of his power and fled, not telling him that she was in fact pregnant. He would never see her again.
Some time later, Magneto ended up in Israel, working at a psychiatric hospital that was treating Holocaust victims. It was there that he met a man named Charles Xavier, another mutant with vast power like his own (though neither man actually knew about the other's powers). They became good friends, and would have regular debates about mutant-kind and how humanity might live with them.
When both men were forced to team up to save a friend (Gabrielle Haller) from some Hydra agents, they were forced to reveal their powers to one another. That only made things worse, and soon after Magneto left, believing he and Charles would never see eye to eye. It was unfortunate, because the two men had already come up with several ways for Charles and he to find young mutants and to protect them from the world (ideas like Cerebro).
Magneto spent the next few years assisting governments in hunting down Nazi war criminals, trying to "do the right thing" as it were. What he didn't know was that, even while he was deceiving said governments and handing over the criminals to Israel (where they would be punished severely), the governments knew all about it, and were happy to let him do it as long as it was not a criminal they had an interest in. When that changed, one of the organisations he worked with, a government agency, attempted to take Magnus down. It did not go well, and from then on, Magneto moved further and further away from any thoughts of heroism.
When Magneto found out that Xavier was building his own school, training his own students, he sought to do something of his own. To that end, he started the Brotherhood, and recruited his first mutants. He saw it more as building an army to protect mutants from human oppression rather than an opposition for Charles; he just did not want all mutants to think like his former friend.
Still, even after all these years, Charles Xavier is still his friend, and is the closest thing to family that Magneto has. He respects the man utterly and completely, and regularly maligns the fact that they could not agree on this most basic of ideologies.
Magneto has a genius-level intellect. He is an expert in several fields, including genetic engineering and mutation. He is also a gifted mechanical engineer, able to create devices more advanced than any country is capable of. He is a master strategist, and is fluent in nine languages.Sample RP:
"That's quite a talent you have there, my boy." Magneto said, his voice calm, almost charming in a way.
"Yeah yeah, just give me the wallet." The young mutant in front of him said, fire dancing gracefully around his fingertips.
"Or I'll burn you."
Magneto smiled. To the average Joe on the street he looked like an average, older gentleman. He was nicely dressed, immaculately groomed, and he had a certain look about him. Non-threatening.
"Oh, I don't think so." Magneto said smiling.
The flames disappeared. The young man looked at him, frightened as he couldn't understand why his powers weren't working.
"I've shut down your brain, boy. At least, the part of it that controls your powers. Electromagnetic fields are my speciality, and had you been human, you would be rapidly developing an aneurysm right now. Be glad you are not." Magneto said, smiling as he walked past him, unafraid.
