Kasume (Mother) Akio (Father) Takeo (Adoptive Brother 14)General Appearance:
There are plenty of cases where blindness doesn't show up with the clouding of the eyes. Her eyes are clear and cloudless and look like anyone else's eyes. Their color- brown. As far as looks go, she's cute to some, hot to others with an innocent air around her. Her hair is worn to mid-neck in length but she knows how to add extensions in a way where hairstyles needing long hair look natural and it is hard to tell that it is not her real hair. Azumi may not have the most curvacious body but she can still do a good job of getting attention if he wants to. She takes good care of herself regardless but knows how to dress to impress, texture coding all her labels. She stands at four feet, ten inches tall and weighs at about eighty five pounds. A little light, but she's no walking skeleton.Personality:
Azumi likes to be included in things that are going on, tired of being left out due to her disability and when left out of things, she can get down right moody. Besides when she is feeling left out or when someone makes a big deal of her being blind, not much gets to her. It is really hard to get under her skin if a person isn't using her blindness as a topic to pick at her but even when she's being insulted about her lack of sight, since her powers developed, she has gotten to where she doesn't show much as far as hurt feelings or anger in that situation, she just handles it in her own way.Abilities:
She likes to show off her memory skills due to the fact that it is quite impressive. Azumi is proud of her memory due to the fact that it allows her to pass off as a "normal person" when it comes to walking around in places she has been before.
She has no problem with using her abilities. Actually, it doesn't really take much temptation at all for her to just block off one or more of someone's senses.
Azumi isn't really afraid of anything but she isn't completely reckless. She still holds some sort of respect towards dangers to her well being. She isn't a masochist after-all. She does not enjoy pain even if she does do things that might risk inviting it.
Due to the fact that all she sees is blackness, she enjoys using her other senses to map things in her head. She is especially fond of the sense of touch and can be found often gliding her fingertips over different surfaces weather it be things like counter tops or fidgeting with a piece of fabric.
Azumi doesn't have anything against non mutants completely, it is just the anti-mutants that she has something against. Actually, she gets along pretty well with normal humans as both her parents are human and as far as she knows, so is her adoptive brother. She would have possibly joined up with Xavier's people had she not felt like they didn't do anything in the way of stopping the anti mutants directly. That, and she felt with what she heard about them, there were just too many rules and regulations to follow.
Azumi can shut down the five senses.... although the sixth still remains safe it seems. She can block sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch of a particular person or a group within fifteen feet of her. If she pushes herself to the point of shutdown, she can reach the area of a football field. Usually she can block up to two senses without it being too much of a strain for her. She can also amplify the senses up to five times their strength but with the amplifying, she can only keep it up for about twenty minutes at most as she is still learning how to use that part abilities.History:
Weaknesses: For one, she's blind. But besides that, she has never fought physically a day in her life so she's not at all strong when it comes to the point of if she ever needs to defend herself in such a way.
With her abilities, she can only on rare occasions shut down all of the senses at once. rare occasions including her actually getting scared enough for this event to trigger and when it does happen, it happens to friend and foe alike within her range.
Whenever she uses her abilities too much more than she usually uses them, it is tiring for her and if she pushes herself too hard, the thing she calls shutdown happens where her mutant powers all seem to dump onto her as well leaving her without any ability to feel, hear, smell, or taste. This is extremely dangerous as it lasts anywhere from ten minutes to a day and leaves her completely vulnerable.
Her abilities only remain in effect as long as she is concentrating on them or 10 minutes to 24 hours of her not concentrating on the target/targets if she intentionally tried for a potent effect.
Azumi was not always blind. She was born being able to see like most other people were. She had sight up until she was about eight years old. The blindness came suddenly, literally overnight. The night before, she had no problem seeing. She had watched a movie with her parents, them both being home at once which was a rare treat for her, and she had gone to sleep on the couch with them. The next morning, her life was plunged into blackness as even when she opened her eyes, she couldn't see anything.Other:
No one took this sudden change well. She freaked out, her babysitter freaked out (as it was summer and both parents worked, her baby sitter had been the only one there in the house with her), her father freaked out when he got a call from the hospitol after the babysitter brought Azume there, and her mother cried when the father called her.
When demands for an explination was made to the doctors, no real one came. All they said was that the blindness seemed to be a complete one and that the pupils did not even react when light was shone into them. It was as if her sight had been completely shut off as there was no damage done to the eyes what so ever and no visible scarring or disfigurement of the eyes or optic nerve coming up in scans. What they didn't know was that Azumi's abilities may have been developing early. They didn't even know that she had the x-gene.
It took Azumi what felt like forever to get accustomed to the life of a blind person even with her natural capabilities in memory. She was depressed for a good two years before she managed to get herself to where she just accepted that she wouldn't ever be able to see again. It was another two years before she fully got herself into thinking of it as a challenge to overcome and a chance to impress rather than depress. That was when she started with the showing off of her memory skills, almost completely abandoning the cane and dog when it came to places that she had been to before and that she had a pretty good map of in her head.
It was about half a year later when her abilities decided to jump in completely, being worked on someone besides herself... Azumi had been over at a sleepover party of one of her friends when a freind of the friend had started picking on her about her blindness. She of course was upset and offended but as the girl continued, Azumi lashed out at her verbally. Suddenly, in the middle of being yelled at, the bullish girl screamed bringing the arguement to a sudden hault. She was screaming about having gone blind and the other girls, thinking that she was further trying to make fun of Azumi cussed her out.
As the girl continued screaming and crying about not being able to see, one of the other girls ran into the house from where they had been gathered in one big tent for the sleepover and retrieved an adult. By the time the adult got there with flashlight in hand though, Azumi's abilities had worn off. The bullish girl was made to go home and the other girls spend a good chunk of the night talking about what a b*tch she was.
The situation happened a few more times before Azumi realized that she was really causing people to go temporarily blind then, she started experimenting with it... Which caused the situation to become more obvious ot those around her. Needless to say, her parents were more than just a little unsettled but with how protective of her they had gotten since she had become blind, they wouldn't let any harm come to her even if she were a mutant. Instead of allowing the people in the neighborhood to harm her weather it was from verbal abuse or physical, they decided to move.
Azumi's experimenting continued even after they moved though, her discovering over the course of only a few months that she could block off other senses as well. Her ablities became a sort of plaything for her until one day she discovered the hard way of what happened f she pushed herself after she had gotten tired. The thing she quickly named 'shutdown'.
It took her a few shutdowns and trips to the hospitol for her to get a good idea of what her limits were exactly and her abilities became more of a part of her rather than a toy in her mind. But still, she wasn't perfect, she liked to play with her abilities time to time.
When she was thirteen, Azumi got a nine year old brother as her parents decided that they wanted more than one child and since it would be risky having another child naturally at their age, to adopt one. His name was Takeo and in Azumi's oppinion he was a total brat. For the first year they didn't get along one bit as he was anti-mutant and as she took every oppertunity to use her abilities on him. Over the next two years though, they began to grown on each other, their fights turning into play fights and that finally mellowing down to their getting along with teasing going on between them. They even stopped correcting people when people would say something about them looking alike.
It was a little past the middle of her seventeenth year when the whole anti mutant kick seemed to stir up and Azumi was starting to think of trying to form a group of anti anti-mutants since the mutant haters seemed to be making some of their own but before she even got to the point of taking action in her plot, she was saved from the trouble...
Azumi had just been making an escape from a rough part of the town (as that part was full of anti mutants and they seemed to somehow found out that she was one), when her hand was grabbed suddenly and she instinctively blocked the grabber's sight. Unlike usually done, the person didn't release her... but that was because it was no ordinary person. A mutant, in fact. It was a member of the Brotherhood, she came to find out and the fact that they got her out of the trouble she was in, made her get more interested in this "Brotherhood". It didn't take long for her to join up.
-Sample RP:
It was a Saturday and Azumi lay in the bed of her parent's house with her arms crossed behind her head and legs crossed at the ankle. Were anyone to look into the room, they would think that she was staring at the ceiling unless they wee to know that she wasn't able to stare at anything. She was thinking about if someone might have taken her room at the Boarding house while it lay there helpless and at the same time, waiting out her partial insomnia so she could get to sleep, go to school, then get back to her real home.
There was a sound, a squeaking of the bed that she could hear through the wall to her brother's room. A wrinkle of her nose came as she realized what he was doing.
"Better cut that out or you're gonna go blind!" She called out.
The squeaking stopped for a few minutes but then started up again causing her to wrinkle her nose once more and roll over onto her side. As it continued, she got a mean smirk on her face then the squeaking suddenly stopped.
"AAAhh!!!! I can't see! Oh my gooooooooosssshhh!!!! I really went----- Hey! Wait a minute!....... Azuuummmiiiiii! Not cool!" Takeo whined out rather loudly.
Azumi laughed then went to sleep as the silence after the whining managed to stay this time.
