Its a beautiful night, we're looking for something dumb to do.Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you!Is it that look in your eyes or is it the dancing juice?Who cares baby, I think I wanna marry you!-==≡≡==-----===≡=≡===-----===≡=≡===-----==≡≡==- It was yet another night where she could not actually fall asleep and was stuck being awake at midnight. She hated these times, but she couldn't really do much about them. Instead, she stalked down to the kitchen after slipping into a pair of black sweat pants and her Cage the Elephant t-shirt. Trotting down the stairs, she made sure to be somewhat quiet, but she didn't put all of her effort into it. Oddly, whenever she did, she was louder than normal. Either way, she easily made it to the kitchen and she pulled out a Dr Pepper from the top shelf. Twisting of the cap, she began to take nice long sips from it. Letting that liquid drool down her throat and tease her senses as she gave a bright smile. Yet, as she stood there, something felt off as she perked a brow slowly. A scream filled the air, but the voice that gave this scream was one she knew, "April!" she shouted. Dropping the soda, she rushed out of the kitchen while the bottle shattered on the kitchen floor.
The moment she pushed out of the kitchen however, there was snow everywhere and she was staring at some man she didn't quite know, but he wore some sort of mask around his face, yet he didn't try to hide it. Perking a brow, she stared at him as he held her sister. His lips then began to move, but no words exited until a few seconds after, "You will not succeed in saving your sister. Hahaha!" In that moment, Maya watched her sister vanish from the man's grip and appear over a large container of sharks. She opened her mouth to shout, but her words didn't come until her mouth was closed, "Let her go!" As her eyes faced the guy again, she was wielding a sword and he was too; in fact, his was grinding against her blade as he sneered at her.
Pushed back, she felt the cold blade of the man enter her stomach and she woke up a cold sweat. "Holy shit," she gasped and looked around, "Okay, no more key lime pie before bed for me," she jested before laying back in her bed and staring at the ceiling, remembering that man's sneer and felt a shiver run down her spine, 'Good thing it was only a dream,' she thought to herself. Shaking her head slowly, Maya pulled herself out of bed and slipped into her rainbow pajama bottoms and pulled on her blue over sized t-shirt. Her shirt did not cover the black and pink music note tattooed upon her left forearm, but it did hide her demon angel. Ready to head out of her room, Maya pushed through the door and let her bare feet press against the cold floor. Brushing her left hand through her long auburn locks, she found herself in the kitchen in no time.
Everything was playing out like the dream, but Maya knew better than to believe anything would actually happen. Reaching up, she stopped a moment as her vision changed and showed her all the past events. A grumble came to her lips as she withdrew from the drawer that held the Dr Pepper, mostly because there was none left. Leaning back against a nearby counter, she rolled her head back and let her eyes close as she let out another heavy sigh. Her night just seemed so...crappy. Nothing interesting was going to happen today and that was quite depressing for Maya. She hated nighttime.

Greg lumbered out of his bedroom and made his way down the stairs. Tonight was strange, he did get some sleep but somehow he had a hankering for some midnight grub. Thankfully for Greg the Institute had an assortment of goodies inside its fridge. Wearing black jogging pants and a white wifebeater, the x-men member known as hurricane made his descent down the stairs and neared the kitchen. On his mind ran a number of possible snacks with a handful of oreos winning out on the list.
Once he made it into the kitchen, he noticed he wasn't alone. Gregory noticed Syco on the kitchen counter. "Didn't expect to see someone here this late", Greg said with a smile directed at Syco before he made his way towards the fridge. He pulled out a tupperware filled with oreo cookies before he placed it a few feet beside his team mate. He picked up a piece of oreo and started to munch on it. Upon finishing the first piece, he looked back at Syco.
"So what's with the long face Maya?", he inquired with a concerned tone in his voice. It was evident to him that she didn't look so happy tonight. Curiousity got the best of him and so he asked. Hopefully she would recieve his question of concern well. If not, there was the oreo to bribe her with, if that would even help.

They never really killed in daylight, so every time Maya thought about night, she thought about the killers that wandered the streets. Having these sort of thoughts would make anyone hate the night though and when Greg wandered in, Maya slowly turned her attention towards him. His arrival may have been a surprise, but it did not startle Maya one bit. She had an odd calm about her most of the time, but she claimed that was her police training. Either way, she watched him as he began to speak and a short laugh crossed her lips, "And I didn't expect to be woken up this late. I suppose we all have our own surprises, huh," she muttered with an irritated tone. Her irritation was not directed at Greg since he wasn't the problem, simply her dreams. Lately they have only been causing her to worry and even being here at the institute didn't seem to help much. Some part of Maya was still worried that something bad would happen to her sister. And just the thought of that was enough to distress Maya at any time of the day.
The oreos Greg fetched out of the fridge were indeed an interesting snack to have, but Maya had no real interest in actually indulging in that side of her right now. Her mood wasn't going to be changed by a simple cookie or two; it required something that she couldn't get to right now. So, when Greg set the container of oreos a few feet away, she just chuckled a bit as he queried her about her mood. Turning on her rear end, Maya let her feet soon rest upon the counter as she laid back and stared at the ceiling. With her hands upon her stomach, she began to give her reply, "First of all, been having a wonderful nightmare for the past few nights. Been keeping me up far too much. Most of the time I would keep myself busy with some work, but at the time being, I am actually all caught up with my cases and just waiting for new ones to roll in. Yay for that. Second, we are out of wonderful Dr Pepper, which is just my luck," she confessed. Maya never saw a point in lying to people, especially ones she was living with. But her straight forward nature was also concern for a few of the people in this school since she can get on people's nerves at times. Cyclops would happily vouch for that fact too. Just ask him.

OOC: finally..I found the wonders of blockquote A small frown appeared on Greg's face. Nightmares were never good. For him, it comes and goes, but it doesn't stick to him for an entire week. So he cannot say he can symphatize to Syco about repeating nightmares for the past few days. He would ask if she might have eaten something before she went to bed. Usually, that would be the case for nightmares. Looking at the container of oreos, he felt a bit nervous. He told himself to just get 2-3 pieces and no more. He wouldn't want to get nightmares for tonight after hearing his team mate's problems regarding her dreams.
His ears kind of perked up at the sound of her doing cases. Yes, he knew for a fact she would go and solve some cases here and there, but it always was interesting for Greg. He looked at Syco and asked, "So, can I assist you in one case anytime in the future? I promise to behave myself." He ended it with an innocent looking smile. He knew she might be hesitant but he always wanted to fight the evil doers even if it meant not using his super powers. Solving a crime would be something you can see as one item in Greg's bucket list before he died. So, he thought, he might as well ask her now. Maybe he might get lucky soon and can tag along into one of these things.
"We're all out? That..quickly?", Greg said with a gasp. He was not an avid drinker of Dr. Pepper, but he did like the taste of it. For him, it'll be the only soda he'll be seen drinking inside the institute. On the other hand, he had a sinking feeling he'll be the one sent out for groceries this week. If that was the case, Greg made a mental note of buying atleast two packs of Dr. Pepper. Hopefully, it wont' run out before the week would end.
He picked up the last piece he'll have for tonight and stared at it a few good seconds. "You know, sometimes, I wonder who thought about these kinds of cookies. They're just too...interesting.", he said to Syco while he was still staring at them. He shrugged and added, "Or...I'm just...looking at this piece too much. Down the hatch you go." With that said, he gulped down the final piece for him tonight and closed the lid on the cookies. He made his way to the fridge and put it back where he obtained the food.
Looking back at Syco, Greg asked, "So...pretty good influx of students we've been getting the past few months don't you think?" Greg was actually beaming, he can help kids who were mutants, just like him. Hopefully it won't get to be a handful once a few more get into the mansion. If it were the case, the professor might recruit more adult mutants such as Greg to handle the workload. But as of now, he was happy and willing to allot his time to work with these kids. One day, maybe the professor's dream may indeed come true. Well, Greg is way too optimistic for things to begin with.

Its a beautiful night, we're looking for something dumb to do.Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you!Is it that look in your eyes or is it the dancing juice?Who cares baby, I think I wanna marry you!-==≡≡==-----===≡=≡===-----===≡=≡===-----==≡≡==- Her nightmares had nothing to do with what she ate or did since she had tried everything to avoid them. It didn't matter what she did, she would still have that dream and it was beginning to make Maya feel uncomfortable. 'Course, the little fight with Scott really didn't help with anything, especially since she knew full well he was flirting with that younger girl. Seeing that side of him made Maya worry about her sister who had to be about the same age as that famous girl. If Scott was willing to flirt or whatever he was doing with that girl, who would know what he would do with April. The mere thought disgusted her. Shivering, Maya attempted to push the thoughts aside and focus back on the current moment, but she couldn't quite do that as her mind fell back to thinking about how Scott was so...one track minded. Honestly, she didn't understand why he was supposively Xavier's right hand man. He was not the smartest apple in the bush.
Luckily, Greg's voice managed to snap her out of her thoughts, and she looked over at him with a laugh filling her lips. He wanted to work a case with her? She found that thought to be so very adorable and she stared at him, examining Greg to the best of her ability. It was hard to tell if he had what it would take to actually do the job that he would need to do, but Maya didn't see the harm in letting him help at some point. "We will just have to wait and see what cases I get," she informed him, not really giving him a yes nor a no. She wasn't about to promise him anything since she may not need him for any of her cases, but if she does, she will turn to him.
The next topic was a depressing one since they were indeed out of Dr Pepper and that meant she couldn't have a drink of anything! Certainly it was irritating, but Maya wasn't about to blame anyone for it. How could she? Instead, she just nodded to Greg's question and closed her eyes for a moment. Though, there was the possibility of her going out and buying some more right now, but she wasn't about to just get up and get some Dr Pepper at the middle of the night, assuming any stores were even open! "May have to get my own secret stash next time," she jested with a gentle laugh. Yet, the idea wasn't a bad one since she could easily keep track of who was taking her soda if she kept it in her bedroom.
As her eyes opened again, she chuckled at Greg taking another oreo and staring at it like it was some spectacular miracle. His words even began to show how he thought of oreos, or rather tried to figure out about oreos. Giggling softly, she shook her head slowly and stared back up at the ceiling. Greg was just as interesting as those oreos since he wasn't quite like most of the guys in this place. It was almost like he tried to be different, yet made it look so very easy. As he chowed it down, Maya laughed yet again and rolled her head so she could stare at Greg, "You are crazy. Maybe you shouldn't wake up in the middle of the night, seems to make you a very odd person," she informed him. Even though she claimed him as an odd man, she was enjoying her time with him, even if it was out of the ordinary.
When the comment about the stream of students coming in, she perked a brow slowly. Her mind recalled the past few months and she slowly began to see the pattern. There was indeed a steady stream of students arriving every few weeks, yet she had no real knowledge of what was normal around her. So, for Gregory to comment on it, Maya figured it was abnormal? It was hard to tell though. "I suppose there is a stream of them. Though, I wouldn't really know what was completely normal for this place anyways," she commented.

Greg felt glad that she would see what cases she got. A flat out no would have been saddening for the boy with dirty blond hair. In terms of the Dr. Pepper, he snickered at the comment about having her getting her own secret stash. That would be a very appropriate thing to do if she didn't want to have the dr. peppers she wanted to run out before she could even drink it.
The rooms at the institute had enough shelves to place their own drinks/food stashes. If they had the money, maybe those rooms had mini fridges with them. In his case, he didn't have anything that resembled a mini-fridge. With that said, he continued his midnight run as he pulled out a carton of milk from the fridge. While he made his way towards the cupboard, he listened to Syco's words.
Greg laughed at Syco's comments about him being crazy. He had to agree the comment about the oreo was far-off from any topic he just said previously. "Yeah, totally", he replied while he continued to laugh lightly, "The lack of sleep just makes me a bit cooky." He reached out for an empty glass so he could place both it and the milk carton on the nearby counter.
"Normal? For this school? Doubt there's anything normal here.", the man said, echoing her statements. He drank his glass of milk before he pulled it back. He looked at Syco and asked, "Well...word from the grapevine told me that a rock star or some singer is actually here at Xavier's now." He wasn't too sure who it was, but he heard from the students talking about the topic, so he was curious. Maya was a 'detective' of sorts so maybe she would know about this topic.

Slowly sitting up, she stared over at him and shook her head slowly as she examined the man closer this time around. He was quite an adorable little thing too, and his attitude did help his chances. Honestly, Maya was amazed there wasn't a girl hanging off of him right now. He would have to be one of the shining lights in this institute since everyone else, that Maya has seen, have been rather...bleak. They weren't the smartest of people and Greg was no shining light, but he was happy to admit his own flaws and that made him slightly attractive to Maya. After all, everyone was flawed but just being ignorant of that is the worse thing to do in Maya's mind. "Oh, I fear it may be something more than just the lack of sleep making you odd, sweetheart," she teased. Maya could already see her little sister shaking her head at Maya's words, like they were completely awful. Luckily, April was in bed and not around to say anything.
Her smile grew brighter when Greg stated that this school didn't know what normal was, and Maya gave a gentle shrug. "I don't know, dear. This schools normal is the abnormal since we can't go by the human normal anymore: we're special," she mused idly as she gave her own opinion. Though, when he mentioned the newest rock star, Maya gave a gentle nod. Instantly her mind began to search for that name and she found it rather swiftly, "Tessa, is her name. She is some sort of star, but I honestly don't know any of her songs or much of anything. Hopefully her presence is not gonna draw any unwanted attention from the press though," Maya stated her small concern. Being unsure of how famous this woman was, Maya just had to question if the press would follow or ignore her existence all together.
Shaking those thoughts from her mind, Maya focused her attention fully onto Greg who was getting himself some milk. That man seemed to have some heavy night time munchies and it was rather amusing. "So, Greggy, you really want to be a detective?" she queried softly as she pondered for a moment, "Well, I am gonna have to test your abilities, so what do you say to a quick game of Clue?" she challenged him with a bright smile crossing over her lips. She always had her Clue game on hand in order to hone her skills a bit better, but now it was Greg's turn to test his own abilities of figuring out the truth. Should prove to be interesting.

"Tessa, eh?" Greg repeated the name through his own mouth as he racked his brain for a few seconds. Sadly, he didn't know any artist with the name of that. He shrugged and figured that he wasn't into the whole rock scene to find out who it was. Whoever it was, he had to agree with syco. Tessa's presence better not give the school unwanted attention. This unwanted attention may come from the media, or worse, creepy stalkers.
His attention, however was caught by the lady with him inside the kitchen. She invited Greg to a game of 'clue' to test his detective skills. He grinned and told her, "It's not that I wanna be a legit detective. It's just that I'd love to help out on a case at least, I dunno, once in my life." He ended it wih a shrug, but there was a noticable grin on his face. Greg was indeed excited for this game of 'clue'.
Before that, however, he poured some milk into his glass. Greg pulled up his drink and chugged it down. A refreshed 'ahh' went out of his mouth and he looked back at Syco. "Ok, I'm ready for this game." Greg gave her a thumbs up to signal that he was prepared while he used his free hand to wipe off any possible traces of milk on his lips.

His quirks could actually make him a very interesting detective, like Sherlock Holmes! One of her greater idols. And, even though Greg was ready for the game, at the moment, Maya was not. Normally she wouldn't need to set up anything, she would just find something amazing to do with her clue game. Such as finding out who took the last Dr Pepper, but not using her power to do so. But, for Greg, she wanted to set something up that would challenge any detective's abilities. Clearly she would need to start it off small and rather easy, but it had to still be epic and challenging. That was the only way to make a good game work. Nodding softly to his words, Maya spoke softly, "Well, that is good, but at the moment the game is not ready. So, you can head off to bed and get some rest. By morning, you will have your little game all nice and ready for you," she informed him with a smile crossing her lips.
Now, her mind was working over the idea in her head of how she would do all of this. Making a challenging game that had spots that were easy was not going to be a simple task at all. Either way, she figured it would be helpful for Greg to understand what a case would be like in real life. Luckily though, there wouldn't be any real danger in this game either, but some cases were far too dangerous to drag a newbie along. Shaking her head, she felt her mind drifting off topic. "Anyways, goodnight Greg and see you in the morning," she bid her farwell as she hopped off of the counter and gave him a quick smile before she trotted out of the kitchen. Though, Maya was not going to head to bed because she had a game to set up!

Greg was slightly disappointed that he had to wait until the morning. Then again, he did consider the time. Even she was too sleepy to conduct a game of 'clue'. On his end, he might get drowzy a few hours into the game if they started it right now. It was a move that made a lot of sense. He just gave her a nod before he replied, "Sure thing. See you tomorrow." Knowing Syco, somewhat, Greg would find that game to be a challenge.
He waved goodbye to Maya as she left through the door, leaving Greg alone in the kitchen. Slowly, the blond man made his way back to the fridge to return the carton of milk. Greg also beelined towards the sink to do a quick cleanup on the glass he used for the milk he just drank. With those tasks done, he also made his own exit from the kitchen. Tomorrow for him would be something interesting indeed.
