Family:
Jean Pudenski (mother), Samuel Korville (father, dead), Nessa Korville (adoptive mother), & April Korville (younger half sister).General Appearance:
Standing at five foot, seven inches, Maya has an average body type since her weight is a hundred and thirty-four pounds. She has bright hazel eyes that are surrounded by long black eyelashes and thin eyebrows above them. As for her hair, it is long with a dark rosewood hue to it. Cannot forget about the nose ring in her left nostril and all of the tattoos covering her body, the one seen most often is the rainbow colored heart in the middle of her chest.Personality:
At first glance, people tend to assume they know who Maya is. All they see is her tattoos and piercings, no one truly tries to know what is beneath, but Maya is much more than her appearance since she simply enjoys expressing herself. It is very rare that Maya will keep anything held inside so it can bubble and build. Instead, she expresses everything if it is appropriate for the moment. This means she will happily cry if she is around friends, but she will not show her stronger feelings if she is out in public or on the job. In fact, when she is working, she uses her logical mind and clever behavior to put together any sort of mystery before her. Since she does have a vast pit of curiosity, Maya will rarely stop until she has the answers she seeks. Never once will she think about giving up, even if the path she is taking is a difficult one. Difficulty is not something she knows of when it comes to other people because she can see through any lie with her perceptive eye. Though she can also empathize with anyone if they are hurt. Her empathy ends to make her a bit of a hopeless romantic, and this is a trait about herself she truly loathes at times. Never-the-less, Maya has a personality that is much like anyone else, all one has to do is give her a chance to show it.Abilities:
When it comes to what Maya feels about life itself, it is a much simpler matter to understand. She likes solving crimes and putting the evil doers in their rightful place, be it in jail or somewhere they can no longer hurt anyone. Because she knows how the world works, Maya tend to protect her half sister anyway Maya can. To her, April is Maya's entire life and she would do anything for April. 'Course, Maya also likes playing video games, mostly being first person shooters, and listening to Cage the Elephant and music similar to them. As for what she hates in life, there are only two main points here. Friends of Humanity is the group she hates the most since they are simply a bunch of foolish humans who think they can stand a chance against any mutant. She believes in their stand of protecting humanity, but believe they are doing it all wrong. The last thing she hates is her father, who is long since dead, but she refuses to talk about him or even hear his name (even if the name is someone else's).
Maya has the ability to see the past within any area she is in. In other words, she can stand within an alleyway and see all the past activity it had when she activates her power. And, on very rare occasions, she can see future events, but nothing more than a few minutes into the future of the area she is in now. Beyond her power, she is also very good with mysteries and putting together puzzles. She is also a decent fighter, but Maya is a lot better with her pistol than her fists.History:
Born on May fourth, Maya's mother didn't want anything to do with her and sent her off to live with her father the moment she was born. Samuel was nothing more than a lady's man though and he did take Maya in, but he did very little to raise her. Instead, Sam's girlfriend at the time did most of the work, and Maya was the only reason she stayed with Sam. Anyone who knew Sam would happily tell you that he was nothing more than a bastard that should be killed and that he couldn't keep his dick in his pants if his life depended on it. Never-the-less, Maya was the glue that made that poor girl stick to his drunk, whoring ass. Ten years passed before the girl found out that she too was pregnant. When she told Sam, she was beaten and Maya stood there and watched. Unlike all the girls Sam dated though, Maya was more like him as she didn't have any fear. When her little sister was born though, Maya swore she would protect her, no matter what it took. Of course, Sam had decided to come home drunk about a year after April's birth. The little girl was crying and Sam got to the crib first, Maya following behind. The way Sam tried to shut April up however caused Maya to go into a rage. At that very moment, her power kicked in and she saw how many times he had thrown April, and even herself, in the crib. He had even beat his girlfriend within this room many times over the years. When she came back to the present, Sam was yelling at her to move. Glaring at him, she stepped aside and let him walk by. He didn't last long though as Maya went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and walked out to the living room. The girlfriend was washing the dishes and followed Maya out of curiosity. So, when Maya stabbed Sam, not once, but twenty times, the woman was stunned by the brutality the young girl had.Other:
After her father's death, they burned down the house and moved away as a family. Nessa, the girlfriend, took the Korville name and claimed that Sam had run off after trying to burn them all alive in the house. No questions were asked as the family started a new life. It didn't take Maya very long before she had an interest in becoming a detective, so she could catch other people like her father. Driven, she did her best in school and soon went on to college for criminal justice. When she graduated, it didn't take her very long before she got her detective shield and she did everything she could to protect her family and the innocent.
When the FoH began to put laws into place and April confessed she was a mutant, Maya took her family away once again, refusing to give into the laws being made. Instead, she brought April and herself to Xavier's school for the gifted while Nessa simply got a home in the city close to the school. Even though Nessa did know that both of the girls were mutants, she refused to tell anyone, perhaps out of fear of crossing Maya or just because she loved both of them a lot.
It didn't take Maya very long before she became a part of the X-Men and began to use her powers to help find other mutants, the innocent ones. Though Maya also became a private investigator in order to help humanity with their normal crimes too. Balancing both lives, Maya is hoping to bring down FoH's idiotic plans and keep all the innocent people, human and mutant alike, safe from harm.
Maya has a pistol on her at all times. And yes, she has a license for this...just not her power. How fucked up is that?!Sample RP:
It was yet another night where she could not actually fall asleep and was stuck being awake at midnight. She hated these times, but she couldn't really do much about them. Instead, she stalked down to the kitchen after slipping into a pair of black sweat pants and her Cage the Elephant t-shirt. Trotting down the stairs, she made sure to be somewhat quiet, but she didn't put all of her effort into it. Oddly, whenever she did, she was louder than normal. Either way, she easily made it to the kitchen and she pulled out a Dr Pepper from the top shelf. Twisting of the cap, she began to take nice long sips from it. Letting that liquid drool down her throat and tease her senses as she gave a bright smile. Yet, as she stood there, something felt off as she perked a brow slowly. A scream filled the air, but the voice that gave this scream was one she knew, "April!" she shouted. Dropping the soda, she rushed out of the kitchen while the bottle shattered on the kitchen floor.
The moment she pushed out of the kitchen however, there was snow everywhere and she was staring at some man she didn't quite know, but he wore some sort of mask around his face, yet he didn't try to hide it. Perking a brow, she stared at him as he held her sister. His lips then began to move, but no words exited until a few seconds after, "You will not succeed in saving your sister. Hahaha!" In that moment, Maya watched her sister vanish from the man's grip and appear over a large container of sharks. She opened her mouth to shout, but her words didn't come until her mouth was closed, "Let her go!" As her eyes faced the guy again, she was wielding a sword and he was too; in fact, his was grinding against her blade as he sneered at her.
Pushed back, she felt the cold blade of the man enter her stomach and she woke up a cold sweat. "Holy shit," she gasped and looked around, "Okay, no more key lime pie before bed for me," she jested before laying back in her bed and staring at the ceiling, remembering that man's sneer and felt a shiver run down her spine, 'Good thing it was only a dream,' she thought to herself.
