Family:
Brian Xavier (father, deceased); Sharon Xavier (mother, deceased); Cassandra Nova (twin sister, unknown); Kurt Marko (stepfather, deceased); Cain Marko (stepbrother);General Appearance:
Charles is a sixty year-old Caucasian man, and as such has considerably aged over the years, though he is still in relatively good health. He, because of paralysis suffered as a young man, a paraplegic (though while he cannot walk, he retains some biological function below the waist), and as such requires the use of an electric wheelchair to get around. Without it, he is six feet tall, and weighs around one hundred and ninety pounds. He had blonde hair, but is now bald, and blue eyes.Personality:
He is very neat and well kept, and has a great deal of independence (able to live without aid from others). He generally wears well tailored suits, and projects an air of intelligence and authority.
Charles Xavier is warm, welcoming, and generally puts people at ease around him. He is a mentor, a teacher, and a kind ear when people need him to be. He has guided the development of the X-Men with a mixture of kindness and strength, instilling in his students the fortitude to deal with whatever might come their way.Abilities:
Sadly, there is a darker side to the man. He sees peaceful human and mutant coexistence to be his ultimate goal, and has at times seemed almost ruthless in his attempts to attain it. Not that he has done so publicly, though. Xavier is a clever, educated man, who knows how to work the media and the public.
As it stands, all he is to outsiders is a proponent of Mutant rights, like any rights activist.
Charles Xavier's mutant power is telepathy, but to such a scale that he is easily one of the most powerful telepaths, if not one of the most powerful mutants, on the planet.History:
The things he can do with telepathy include: Reading minds, projecting his own thoughts in to other minds, creating telepathic illusions, masking himself and others from people, and even telepathically linking with people so that they might have a mental "conversation". He can download information from his own mind in to that of others, or even control other minds either to make them act as instruments of his will, or effectively "freezing" them so that time will seem to have stopped. He can removed memories, create psychic shields to protect himself from other telepaths, attack other minds with "psychic blasts", and even project his consciousness on to the astral plane.
Charles Xavier was born to Brian and Sharon Xavier, a couple that was wealthy partially due to Brian being a well-respected scientist. After Brian died in an accident, his science partner Kurt Marko comforted the grieving Sharon and eventually married her. When Xavier's telepathic mutant powers emerged, he discovered Kurt really only cared about her money.Other:
Kurt moved in with the Xaviers, bringing with him his son Cain. Kurt eventually showed his true colors, neglecting Sharon, driving her to alcoholism and abusing Charles and Cain. Cain took out his frustrations and insecurities on his step-brother. Charles once used his telepathic powers to read Cain's mind and see his psychological damage, which only led to Cain becoming more aggressive toward him.
Sharon died soon after. Later, a fight erupted between Cain and Charles causing some of Kurt's lab equipment to explode. Mortally wounded, he managed to drag the two children out before dying himself.
Thanks to his powers, Xavier became an excellent student and athlete, though he gave up the latter after believing his powers gave him an unfair advantage. He later met a fellow student with whom he fell in love, a Scottish girl named Moira Kinross. The two eventually agreed to get married, but Xavier was drafted into the war. During the war, he received a letter from Moira breaking up with him. He would later discover that Moira had married her old boyfriend Joseph MacTaggert, who abused her.
After the war, Xavier travelled around the world. In Cairo, he ran into the Shadow King, who was posing as an Arabian crime lord. Xavier was able to defeat the Shadow King barely escaping with his life. This encounter led to Xavier's decision of devoting his life to protecting humanity from evil mutants and safeguarding innocent mutants from human oppression.
Xavier later visited an old friend, Daniel Shomron, who had opened a clinic for traumatized Holocaust victims in Haifa, Israel. There, he met the man who would become Magneto, a Holocaust survivor himself who worked as a volunteer in the clinic and Gabrielle Haller, a catatonic Holocaust survivor. Xavier was able to use his mental powers to break her out of her catatonia and the two later fell in love.
Xavier also became good friends with Magneto. Neither revealed to the other the fact that he was a mutant. The two held lengthy debates hypothesizing what would happen if humanity were to be faced with a new, super-powered, race of humans. While Xavier was optimistic, Magneto's experiences in the Holocaust led him to believe that humanity would ultimately oppress the new race of humans like they did any other minority.
The two friends revealed their powers to each other when they fought Nazi Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and his HYDRA agents, who had kidnapped Gabrielle because she had known the location of their secret cache of gold. Magneto attempted to kill Strucker by dropping the cave in on him; the baron somehow managed to survive and resurfaced much later. Realizing that his and Xavier's views on mutant-human relations were incompatible, Magneto left with the gold.
Charles continued to stay in Israel for some time, but eventually he and Gabrielle separated on good terms not knowing at the time that she was pregnant with his son, who would grow up to become the autistic mutant Legion.
In Tibet, Xavier discovered a group of people enslaved by the mysterious Lucifer, who turned out to be an alien working to help plan an invasion of earth. Charles helped to lead the people to revolt against Lucifer, but in the battle, was crippled when a large stone was thrown upon him by Lucifer.
Now, as a paraplegic, Charles knew he couldn't fight evil mutants head on, so he decided to start a school where he could train and direct young mutants to help protect humanity from those evil mutants that would try to oppress humanity and therefore set back his cause for equality with humans and mutants. Those that have graduated from his school and show true talent become a part of an elite strike-force known as The X-Men. In addition, he seeks to foster good mutant-human relations by providing a positive example of mutants with his superhero team. Among the obstacles to that goal is his old friend, Magneto, who has grown harder since the two last met and believes that the only solution to mutant persecution is the domination of humanity.
Xavier is by any measurement, a genius, excelling in the fields of genetic, mutation and psionics. He is also a gifted strategist, able to take on the Magnetos and Sinisters of the world effectively.Sample RP:
Having fought in the Korean War, Xavier is an accomplished soldier, which allows him to be an expert in hand to hand combat and a coolness under pressure that most lack.
With Cerebro (a device that amplifies his mutant powers), Xavier becomes an even more powerful mutant, and can locate almost any mutant anywhere on the planet.
The chair jerked to a stop near one of the large, semi-bay windows at the back of Xavier's office. He took a deep breath, looking out at the world, wondering what was out there that might threaten all the work he'd put in.
He knew about Erik, and the kinds of things he was doing. He was building an army, while Xavier was trying to educate, to teach. Yes, he made sure his X-Men were trained, but that was only so that they could protect themselves. They were not aggressors.
Then there was the government. They knew all about the mutant "menace", and Charles Xavier was sure that they would put billions of dollars in to developing weapons of mass destruction.
So what could he do? He would save the world, is what he would do, and his X-Men would be the tools to do so...
