"If you say so."
She was teasing him a little now, which was encouraging. It meant that they had a rapport, and such a thing was not easy to build up with people, especially for Cyclops. With Tessa, though, it seemed easier than with most. Maybe that was why he felt an attraction towards her; god knows that after Jean, dating or even fooling around with a red-head would have been a pretty silly thing to do. So why was he here, then?
"I can make them feel any of the emotions through my songs. Sometimes, even a small mixture of them. But, everything I've learned was through experimentation. Careful experimentation. I'm sure there's other aspects and elements to my powers but it's not like I actually went out to find out everything I can do with them. That's at least part of why I'm here, right... so I can really get into the deeper levels of what I can do?"
It seemed the tone of his comment had been missed. Was there a tone? He had thought that he had made it clear that he was trying to be suggestive, but there was a chance that he wasn't being as clear as he had been in his head. This was the issue with not dating a telepath... He was used to being so much more subtle with a woman. He'd have to step it up to get on a level with Tessa, he knew it.
"Makes sense." Scott said, sweating slightly as he took a difficult breath.
He was coming down a bit more, so he wasn't as bad as before. He managed a small smile, hoping that it would be enough.
"It's something we'll have to work on with your training. You can test them on me..." He said, exhaling hard.

"Makes sense."
It seemed that he hadn't caught the fact she was flirting a little when it came to the last part of her statement. But then again, it had been pretty damn subtle. She was trying to keep it light too though. No sense in ending up in a rebound situation. Especially a double one seeing how they were both getting out of relationships or in the tail end of a break up in her case. She probably shouldn't have been doing any flirting at this point but like she had thought about earier; old habits died hard.
"It's something we'll have to work on with your training. You can test them on me..."
Her brow shot up for a brief moment and she bit the corner of her lip; a sign of her thinking but hesitating at the same time.
"Test them on you? Are you sure? I mean, some emotions are pretty messed up and some might make you not even feel like yourself for a moment."
She hadn't actually experimented on someone with all the emotions that were handy before. But... she was here to learn and test, wasn't she? To put them to use too- even if she'd been putting them to use before.
"I'm not sure..."

"Test them on you? Are you sure? I mean, some emotions are pretty messed up and some might make you not even feel like yourself for a moment."
He could handle it. For all his faults, if there was one thing Cyclops was sure of, it was his ability to lead and to guide this team in difficult situations. Sure, he wasn't the most personable, nor was he the most charming, but when push came to shove Scott was the one that Xavier had picked to lead this team, and that was the way it was going to stay as long as Scott performed his duties without getting anyone killed.
"I'm not sure..."
"I am." Scott replied, self-assurance radiating from him.
"Truth is the training would benefit me, and it would also give you a chance to further work on honing your powers. It shouldn't affect anything personal between us, will it?" He asked, hoping that she would see things as logically and as he was.

"I am."
He was sure about having his emotions jerked in every which way with varying intensities? Tessa wondered a little about his sanity at this point. It was kind of nuts to volunteer for something like that. Actually, to not only think up the experimenting thing but wanting it done on himself.
"Truth is the training would benefit me, and it would also give you a chance to further work on honing your powers. It shouldn't affect anything personal between us, will it?"
She still wasn't sure about this, but he at least had some argument that halfway made sense... Tessa shook her head a little to show that it wouldn't be anything personal, but there was no real telling on how it might effect him in a long run. Some emotions, you just didn't get over even if the moment's passed. She'd take it light on him, she decided.
"So... when should this be happening and where would be a safe place? I mean, I thought the greenhouse would be pretty deserted at this time of the day but you see where that led to."

She shook her head in response to him, telling him that, to his relief, he wouldn't have to worry about it changing things between them if the training went a little bit awry. That was good, even if she was a bit subtle about it. Did she still find him attractive, he wondered. He wasn't the most easy-going of people, that was true, but he did have a lot to offer, even if it was just some rolling around the Danger Room that they got up to.
Once she got clearance, of course.
"So... when should this be happening and where would be a safe place? I mean, I thought the greenhouse would be pretty deserted at this time of the day but you see where that led to."
"I can lock down the garage when you feel up to giving it a try." He said, giving a half-smile.
"I'm just glad that you're not going to take any untoward advances as being a knock against me." He said, trying to keep the conversation light while he finally began to return to normal, even if there were some bad, very bad lingering thoughts on his mind right now.

"I can lock down the garage when you feel up to giving it a try."
Would that be enough though? What if someone heard through the door or something? No... It'd have to be enough for now if that's what needed to be done. Oh how she missed her soundproofed basement. If she could have taken any part of the house with her, that would have been it. Not only had it been safe, but she had a lot of memories in that room. Sentimental ones.
"I'm just glad that you're not going to take any untoward advances as being a knock against me."
"Just as long as you don't hold anything against me either. And, if it bothers you, I'll skip that part of the emotional spectrum. It could be kind of fun though."
And she hadn't been able to keep from flirting back when she'd picked up on him doing it. Bad habit. Bad bat habit, that would probably get her into more trouble than she needed.
"Alright... I think I've got the guts to do it now... So off to the garage before I lose my nerve? I'm not exactly comfortable playing puppet-master with someone's emotions just to see what happens, after all."

First she says she doesn't want him holding anything against her (bad), but then she says that it could be fun? Which was it? Unless she didn't realise it and he was just reading too much in to it. She did seem up for whatever might happen though, so he could just relax and go with it for now, and hope that her opinion didn't change any time soon. At least, on the outside, Scott didn't look like his mind was going ninety miles an hour.
"Alright... I think I've got the guts to do it now... So off to the garage before I lose my nerve? I'm not exactly comfortable playing puppet-master with someone's emotions just to see what happens, after all."
Scott nodded.
"All right, but only one rule: You tell me beforehand what emotion I'm going to be feeling. That way i can ease in to it and I won't be overwhelmed." He said, his "Cyclops" tone coming through a little as he spoke.
He couldn't help it; this was her mutant power they were talking about, and when it came to mutant powers the people on this house dealt with Cyclops, not Scott Summers. He was the drill instructor; Xavier was the one that was warm and fuzzy and all that. Yes, Scott reminded himself of this a lot, but it was just how he was; he needed to keep telling himself.
If he didn't people would die.

Even if his tone was somewhat serious, border lining on stern. Tessa couldn't agree to that.
"Oh no... You're the one who wanted to play guinea pig when it comes to my powers, so you tell me what you're prepared to feel. I'm already nervous enough about this without having to pick and choose which emotion to inflict on you. The way I see it, you know yourself better than I know you, so you'd know which emotion you're best prepared for when." She said holding her hands up as she spoke.
She gave a small sigh out then took a step away from the bench after dipping down to pick up her guitar case.
"Not trying to be argumentative, just don't exactly have the right comfort level with this whole testing thing to be the singer and the DJ if you get what I mean."

She didn't have to be nervous or worry about him. He was a bit confused though; why should he get to decide what emotion she hits him with? Even with time to prepare, he wanted it to be a surprise so he'd have to think on his feet. Now she was telling him that he'd have to choose? He supposed he could, even if he didn't want to... He'd just have to be careful about it all, to not make it too easy on himself.
It wouldn't really be a test then, would it.
Scott kept his eyes averted when she dipped down to pick up her guitar case, not wanting to be "that guy". Besides, he'd get to ogle her after he won her over with his sparkling personality and boyish charm.
Yeah, right.
"Not trying to be argumentative, just don't exactly have the right comfort level with this whole testing thing to be the singer and the DJ if you get what I mean."
Scott gave her a sigh, then nodded.
"All right, I'll choose. You'll just have to learn not to go easy on me at some point." He said, trying to seem a bit casual so that it would seem suggestive.

"All right, I'll choose. You'll just have to learn not to go easy on me at some point."
"Hey, once I know what you can handle, I can give it to you as hard as you want it." She told him, her playfulness flooding back in and her punctuating that statement with a smirk.
Knowing that he'd be the one picking the moods she'd be singing to him, did take a lot of the strain off of her even if she knew that there would still be some holding back on her part. She didn't want to over-do it. Like she had thought about earlier; she knew what some emotions could do to people. Some mental warks had a few of their patients due to emotional strain and the person not having been able to deal with it all at once. Not that Tessa thought Scott would be emotionally weak. It was just a worry.
And to think, she once used to believe her powers were completely passive. That they were kind of a joke, even if she wouldn't just give them up if she had the choice to.

"Hey, once I know what you can handle, I can give it to you as hard as you want it."
His brows actually rose to their highest this time, his surprise and amusement as obvious as the visor on the nose on his face. At least he knew for certain now, and he could begin to think about how he might "woo" her. He had never been very good at it. He was romantic, sure, but that only came after he got to know someone, and knew what they liked. And knew that they would put up with all his little quirks.
"I'm sure I'll be able to keep up." He said, stepping to the side and opening his body up.
"Or at least, I'll give it a good push. After you." He said, raising his arm to encourage her to walk with him.
He was thinking about her in a not-so innocent way; that much was clear. Well, at least to him. He couldn't be sure she'd know what was on his mind. At the very least he could console himself with the knowledge that he wasn't just doing this to get closer to her. He did actually want to train with her, and if someone came at him with a similar power in the future, then he'd be prepared. Somewhat, at least...
