She started laughing. Bellowing, even. He had said something funny? Or she had? He was already wondering if she went to the Xavier Institute for the Gifted (though he liked to call some of them "special" sometimes, and not in a flattering way), and she was doing nothing to discourage that idea in his head.
"I'm just kidding, There isn't a school for mutants. That's just ridiculous. I went to Westminister High. Graduated two months ago."
He didn't believe a word of it. Of course, when you'd had the life he'd had recently, you didn't really believe much of what people said, especially when it came in pretty packages. That had been happening a lot lately. Why hadn't he learned to just ignore women in peril? Seriously, he was no hero.
"Let's go in here!" She shouted, surprising even Jamie himself.
"You know, just to... uh... do something else. Unless you have to go somewhere. Then, that's ok too. I mean, I'm not forcing you to hang out with me. It's not like it's a date or anything. I mean, we just survived a mutant assault and I puked all over your shoes...."
Madrox smiled.
"You sure you wanna do that? You aren't afraid you might say something that you don't want me to hear?" He asked, teasing her a little.

Anna had taken a step toward the record store but stopped midway, looking like an awkward statue. She turned ever so slowly and looked up at Jamie. Her cheeks flushed red and she could feel herself flicker with chills - her skin becoming more and more transparent by the second. She caught herself before the ultimate chill ran down her spine, making her invisible to the naked eye, and inhaled. Color flooded back to her face and she seed normal. She paused for a second, considering what Jamie had said. Could she really hold off without spilling the beans on the whole secret society that was the Xavier Institute? Probably not.
On the other hand, she couldn't leave with a lingering thought in his head about the possibility of a place like that exist. Anna laughed loudly, almost a fake laugh more than an awkward one. "I still don't know what you are talking about," she lied, " I figured I just owed you for… you know saving me and the puke and that sort of stuff." She gave him a toothy smile and nodded toward the record store. She couldn't let him off thinking something about the potential of a mutant school. So he was a mutant too, he was well past the majority and couldn't just waltz into the school… but what if he were working for the government and wanted to steal the secrets of a typical mutant in exchange for a cure…. or worse…. money!!!
Anna continued to smile at him even as her cheeks were hurting but she was persistent. "Of if you want I could treat you to some ice cream… or something."

((sorry for the late reply, I'm a bad, bad man))
Jamie's eyes widened when he saw that she was becoming more and more transparent, and not in the emotional sense. She was literally turning invisible, though luckily for him she went back to her normal state before he could try feeling around like a blind man, hoping that he wouldn't accidentally grab a boob or something. You know, because that would have been terrible. Completely.
"I still don't know what you are talking about, I figured I just owed you for… you know saving me and the puke and that sort of stuff."
She wasn't a great liar. Now Jamie? He was a fantastic liar. He'd honed his skills over many years of lying, and was now one of the better liars he'd ever known. Plus, duplicating one's self made sure that it was hard to figure out his poker face.
She didn't want to talk about where she was from? Fine by him. He'd saved her, but he wasn't the type to cash it in unless there was something he wanted. He was already getting what he wanted: Someone to talk to that wasn't one of his duplicates.
"Of if you want I could treat you to some ice cream… or something."
Jamie shook his head.
"Let's just go look at some music, and we can talk a bit more. How does that sound?" He asked, his boyish smile as natural as the little bit of stubble on his chin.

She smiled back at him, feeling her cheeks turning red in the process. Her social life outside the institute was pretty minimal but her experience with the opposite sex was nonexistent. Sure she talked to a few boys here and there, but they were all part of the Institute and they had already pegged her for the 'semi-stalkerish' type. It wasn't her fault that she enjoyed standing in corners, peering around them, and then turning invisible when some one looked.... Ok, maybe that made her a little weird but she was already weird to begin with.
"Sounds good," she chirped, quickly patting down her clothing in an attempt to calm her nerves.
Anna grabbed onto the hem of her jacket and almost robot-like turned and wobbled into the music store. She could feel the heat of the room hit her like a fish slapping her in the face. For the first time this evening, Anna realized just how cold it had been outside. She used that excuse to blame her reddening cheeks and her awkward attitude. She was weird not because it's her personality, but because her brain had frozen due to the weather. That's it. That's a good excuse.
"What kind of music do you listen to?" Anna asked in an attempt to change the subject off of her secret spilling. "I tend to go for Bach and Mozart."
Ok, she was not your typical 18 year old. Her parents were famous politicians. She never got to listen to Britney Spears or Black Eyed Peas. Heck, she didn't even know who the Backstreet Boys were!! She had learned to play the piano at 4 and had mastered most classical renditions by 8. Anna turned toward the classical music section before she stopped herself. She didn't know whether this little tid bit made her seem unapproachable or whether Jamie would take this opportunity to high tail it out of here and leave her stranded, talking to herself.

"Sounds good,"
Jamie knew the type. It wasn't a negative to say something like that; there were just various types of women that he had managed to categorize so that he'd know how to deal with in a social situation. Was that in itself a negative against him? He supposed that it was possible, though he wouldn't do anything to make her feel like she wasn't an individual with her own quirks and eccentricities. He'd be nice to her; good to her, even.
Shaking any remnants off of his shoes, Jamie waited a moment before he followed her in to the music store. Some of his dupes had caught up, and slipping to the side so he wouldn't be seen, he absorbed them quickly before heading inside. The warm air hit his face, making him uncomfortable for a second before he adapted to it.
"What kind of music do you listen to? I tend to go for Bach and Mozart."
Jamie smiled.
"More of a Verdi man myself, but I'll listen to anything with a catchy beat that doesn't make my ears bleed." He replied as he moved up one of the aisles but stayed within earshot of her.

Anna found herself giggling at the ears bleeding comment. She brought her hand to her mouth to cover the small laugh. Her eyes flickered toward Jamie for a moment before she entered the music row next to him. She felt somewhat awkward, spending time with a man... an older man at that... inside a music store... after a mutant battle in the park... but mostly she was uncomfortable because he was a guy... and attractive guy.
"What do you consider music that bleeds your ears?" she asked quietly, looking at a few random albums.
She wasn't really looking at them but rather peering at them with little concentration. She pulled out a random cd and held it up, pretending to look at it. She'd never heard of Pink and thought the woman on the cover looked a bit too punkish for her. Anything that was out of her usual conservative comfort zone made her feel a bit... well, uncomfortable. She quickly put the cd down and hid it behind some other cds.
Trying to be a little more 'hip' Anna pulled up another random cd, "I really like Kan-Yee West." She, of course, held up a record that said 'Kanye West' and totally butchered the name.

He had been looking at the racks of CDs, so he hadn't seen the way she'd reacted to him; he'd just heard the laugh. Laughing was good, he knew. His mind still occasionally went back to what had happened in the park, but he was sure that his dupes had made it to safety, and would return home so that they would be there waiting for him when he returned. Yet another benefit of his powers.
"What do you consider music that bleeds your ears?"
Madrox smiled, thinking for a moment about what kinds of music he didn't like. He didn't really know how to put it best, so he just shrugged and said the first explanation he could think of.
"Honestly, just stuff that's harsh, you know? Stuff that's unpleasant to listen to, that grates on your ears. I listen to music to relax, not to get a splitting headache." He said, smiling still and hoping that his answer would be sufficient.
"I really like Kan-Yee West."
"I think that's "Kan-Yay"." He replied, smiling at her with a little amusement on his face.
The amusement faded when he heard shouting outside, a car alarm going off, and the sound of trash-cans being thrown around. It sounded like some sort of riot, and Jamie couldn't resist going to the window to have a look.
